The Planning Stage starts with the initial phone call and consultation. Lifesaver Interventions will help you determine if an Intervention is appropriate, discuss the circumstances and potential participants, and give you an idea of what to expect. If you haven’t already selected a treatment facility, we will make some recommendations and assist you in the selection of the appropriate facility, and we will work with you and the treatment facility through the admissions process. During this stage, we will assist you and all the participants in preparing for the Pre-Intervention meeting, another key to a successful Intervention.
The Pre-Intervention meeting is normally held the evening before the Intervention. The purpose of the Pre-Intervention meeting is to educate the participants about the disease of addiction and the Intervention Process, plan the details of the Intervention, and answer everyone’s questions.
The Intervention is normally done in the morning, at a time the alcoholic or addict is most likely to be receptive. The Intervention is a structured meeting, led by the Interventionist, and is designed to be loving, supportive, and non-judgmental of the individual. The objective is to get the individual help in treating a disease. If the individual accepts the help offered, which is true in the vast majority of cases, the Interventionist will escort him or her directly to the treatment facility from the Intervention meeting.
The Intervention process does not end with the Intervention or even admission to treatment. Lifesaver Interventions will continue to be available to you for consultation and help. The purpose of the Intervention is not only to get the alcoholic or addict help to save his or her life, but to improve the lives of all those affected by the disease. The joy and beauty of recovery is available to everyone involved!
